ANFACA (Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes de Conductos para Aire), which brings together the main national conduit manufacturers, and of which BRINNER is a member, has commissioned an expert opinion from an independent technician where he not only warns of the lack of regulation of the Jet-Fan fans, but seriously questions that such fans could evacuate the smoke in case of fire.

These fans are being implanted more and more in garages and underground car parks, as the only smoke extraction system in case of fire, to the detriment of the traditional system of metallic extraction ducts, which are the only ones recognized in the CTE (Código Técnico de la Edificación) as proper systems for this work.

According to the current regulations, Jet-Fan can only be used in “spaces of reduced slenderness” and road tunnels, but there is no legal regulation that authorizes such systems for garages and car parks of a certain size.

According to the engineer in charge of the expert opinion, in case of fire the fans will blow the smoke in one direction, and it may happen that users run to escape just upstream of the fan, in which case, rather than evacuating the smoke it would throw it towards the people who are fleeing from it.
